A Morning Practice That Will Change The Tune of Your Day
Clients often ask me in the beginning of therapy how they can feel IMMEDIATELY better, more connected to themselves, or balanced in life. For the most part - I believe that deep healing, self awareness, and growth is a committed lifelong path...which DOES not mean therapy your entire life.
However-these three activities can become a morning practice that will begin to rewire your brain (in a good way). Creating more space, less reactivity, intuition, and the ability to be more present.
1.) Morning Pages: based off of Julia Cameron’s book “The Artist’s Way.” She discusses writing for three pages, uncensored, and letting everything out. This is helpful to move past unconscious or creative blocks and purge emotionally whatever needs to come up. I also believe we need to continually process things that get stuck in the mind/body connect. These pages can began to feel massively therapeutic.
2.) A gratitude practice. I know that it’s one of the most overused words in the new age community, but that’s because there is SO much power and science behind it. Write down three things that you are grateful for and do not forget to say why.
3.) MEDITATION: I capitalize this because I cannot stress the importance of this enough. We live in an overstimulated world and a huge majority of us are walking around stressed, anxious, and disconnected from ourselves. Even 5 to 10 minutes a day will transform you.
This entire practice can be 15-20 mins and will set the tone of your day. I hope this helps you as much as it helps me.
